Mathias is a brilliant mathematician and data scientist, and especially in putting those skills into practice to create value as a true team-player. I also value him especially as out-of-the-box thinker and for his tendency to cross borders: not many mathematicians are eager like Mathias to reach out to the shop-floor and participate actively in so many different kind of activities outside his direct field of education. This is often what’s needed to get things done with science, and that is what I have enjoyed seeing Mathias succeed in.
